Privacy Policy

Effective date: 21 July 2026  |  Last updated: 21 July 2026

Poll Ranker provides live-class polls, leaderboards and student performance reports. This policy explains what information we collect, why we use it, and the choices available to you.

1. Scope

This Privacy Policy applies to Poll Ranker websites, student and educator portals, desktop applications, live poll services and related support services (together, the “Service”). By using the Service, you acknowledge the practices described in this policy.

2. Information We Collect

  • Google account information: name, email address and profile image made available after you choose to sign in with Google.
  • YouTube channel information: selected channel ID, channel title, public handle or custom URL and channel image, where available.
  • Class and poll activity: educator or channel association, class and playlist information, questions attempted, submitted answers, correctness, response time, score, rank and performance history.
  • Account and support information: contact details, organization details and messages you send to us.
  • Technical information: session identifiers, browser or device information, IP address, timestamps, security logs and diagnostic information needed to operate and protect the Service.

3. How We Use Information

  • Authenticate users and connect a selected YouTube identity with the correct student or educator account.
  • Match live poll participation to class-wise, teacher-wise and channel-wise reports.
  • Display scores, answer reviews, rankings, playlists, saved classes and performance insights.
  • Operate, secure, troubleshoot and improve the Service.
  • Respond to support requests and send essential service-related communications.
  • Comply with applicable law, prevent abuse and enforce our terms.

4. Google and YouTube API Data

Poll Ranker uses Google OAuth and the YouTube Data API. When you select “Continue with Google,” Google asks you to choose an account or YouTube channel and approve the requested read-only access. Poll Ranker uses this access to identify your selected YouTube channel and bind eligible live-poll attempts to your panel.

We request only the permissions reasonably required for this purpose, including basic profile information and read-only YouTube account access. Student login does not use this permission to upload videos, publish comments, edit your channel or delete YouTube content.

Poll Ranker’s use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

5. Cookies, Sessions and Local Storage

We use essential cookies, server sessions and browser storage to keep you signed in, remember your selected channel, preserve interface preferences and protect OAuth requests. These technologies are used for core Service functionality rather than third-party behavioural advertising.

6. How We Share Information

We do not sell personal information or Google user data. Information may be shared only with:

  • The relevant student, educator or authorized organization where needed to provide class reports and rankings.
  • Service providers that host, secure or support the Service, subject to appropriate confidentiality and data-protection obligations.
  • Authorities or other parties when required by law, necessary to protect rights and safety, or needed to investigate fraud or abuse.
  • A successor organization in a merger, acquisition or business transfer, subject to applicable law and continued protection of the information.

7. Retention and Deletion

We retain account, channel and performance information only for as long as needed to provide the Service, maintain legitimate educational records, meet legal obligations, resolve disputes and protect the Service. Retention periods may vary according to the type of record and the requirements of the educator or organization responsible for a class.

You may request access, correction or deletion of your Poll Ranker information by contacting us. We may need to verify your identity and may retain limited information where required by law or for security and record-integrity purposes.

8. Your Google Account Controls

You can review or revoke Poll Ranker’s Google access at any time from Google Account third-party connections. Revoking access stops future Google and YouTube API access, but it does not automatically delete performance records already stored by Poll Ranker. To request deletion of those records, contact us using the details below.

9. Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical and organizational safeguards designed to protect information against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure or loss. No internet or storage system is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

10. Students and Children

Poll Ranker is designed for educational use. Educators, institutions, parents and guardians are responsible for obtaining any consent required by applicable law before a child uses the Service. If you believe information about a child was provided without appropriate authorization, contact us so that we can review and take appropriate action.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy to reflect changes to the Service, legal requirements or data practices. The “Last updated” date above identifies the latest revision. Material changes may also be communicated through the Service or other appropriate means.
